PRACTICE IS A LONG ROAD THAT TURNS TO JOY.

"THE PRESENT MOMENT

THE BUDDHA WAS ASKED, "WHAT DO YOU AND YOUR DISCIPLINES PRACTICE?" AND HE REPLIED, "WE SIT, WE WALK, AND WE EAT". THE QUESTIONER CONTINUED, "BUT SIR, EVERYONE SITS, WALKS AND EATS". THE BUDDHA TOLD HIM, "WHEN WE SIT,  WE KNOW WE ARE SITTING. WHEN WE WALK, WE KNOW WE ARE WALKING. WHEN WE EAT, WE KNOW WE ARE EATING."

MOST OF THE TIME, WE ARE LOST IN THE PAST OR CARRIED AWAY BY THE FUTURE. WHEN WE ARE MINDFUL, DEEPLY IN TOUCH WITH THE PRESENT MOMENT, OUR UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT IS GOING ON DEEPENS, AND WE BEGIN TO BE FILLED WIHT ACCEPTANCE, JOY, PEACE AND LOVE. " FROM "THE LONG ROAD TURNS TO JOY" BY THICH NHAT HANH

EN
I was sitting in the entrance room of  the Shala, me and a more 30 of us, waiting for our turn to go to practice. We would slowly listen to a "ONE MORE!"  from our Guru, and there it enter one of us, sometimes two more at the same time. We are in February, high season, where it seems that half the world decided to come to practice KPJAYI! But although the waiting seems negative, in reality it is not. When we sat there, we have the opportunity to observe. Observe our teacher, as he adjusts as he move in the room, what he tells to each practitioner.  We noted of the work of the assistants who accompany him in class. We withdraw inspirations from the practices of those already on top of their mat. We feel the strong energy in that room and look there in the background, the images of Guruji, Shri K. Pattabhi Jois, and from respect, we quietly wait for our turn.

We are so used to our life in the West, where everything is for tomorrow, where waiting is seen as negative, that when we arrived here, we live a completely opposite perspective. And from time to time, and from all these inspirations via observation, we can also receive small gifts that were not at all thought. While I was watching the room in front of me, from time to time i was exchanging, in low voice, a few words and laughs with Laura, when the girl on my left, which was a practitioner who I've known for years, tells me "Take. Is a book that I found at my home, then you give me back.  "I thanked Justyna, and open it, I came across  with this text that i transcribed up there and that shows exactly why we practice. When we practice, we know that we are practicing. When we breathe, we know that we are breathing. When we move, we know that we moving. Happy practicing!
