The greatest privilege of having at our home a teacher like Peter Sanson is the opportunity to be his assistant during the workshops, because i closely observe the way he teaches, how he adjusted each position, explained each posture, what he says to each student, how he directs each practitioner to a depth of practice, free of tension, stress, or compression. It is amazing to watch and experience the energy inside the room, light, stable, of pure connection. You can see and feel that everyone is giving their best to enter into the positions with respect for themselves and benefit from a huge increase of energy. The way he works, is beyond a large scale the sheer physical work of only doing the positions, to give primacy to the potential of this Yoga method, stressing how much we can benefit from the practice of Ashtanga Yoga within the right context, with the correct intention and the techniques. Every year, i have been noticing, his patience and determination to show the essence of this practice, which is beyond the number of positions we have achieved and the support he gives to all who come here, either if is because they are hurt, or they are going through a phase of physical, mental or emotional distress. He tells us that this practice is the right medicine for energy, balance and health recovery. But looking into the eyes of each of us, he explain that the practice must be done without tension! That there are several levels of deepness in the postures, and it is essential we work every day in our practice with the right intention to move forward, not by the number of postures or series that we can do, but by a gradual work of feeling, of expanding our attention to the breath, to its link with the body and the mind. Practice by practice, we improve our connection and integration of the various spheres of our being, and this only happens if we extend the mat and try to ward off the mental noise, the trends of an inflamed ego of wanting to show or be, but in humility enter the state of Yoga, where we are at present, in the moment, in every breath and free ourselves of tensions accumulated by years, emotional upset, mental and energetic blockages, drawing every day the opportunity to be healthy, being a living energy!
