#PERFECT COMBO

Dublin,  Ashtanga Yoga e Peter Sanson - A perfeita combinação!

EN
Dublin, Ashtanga Yoga and Peter Sanson - the perfect combination!
There were four days of practice, and one conference with Peter Sanson and 4 days for a lot of walking to find out as much as I could of this city, that simply leaves marks on our face for so many smiles made of such beauty observed. It is a town with an easy and simple dynamic, perhaps because the locals are so friendly, demonstrating readiness whenever we need some help. You can see the  city center in a day or two, visiting the references that appear in any tourist guide, my favorites were - the renowned Trinity College, the beautiful Dublin Castle, the historic Christ Church Cathedral, walk through Temple Bar, turning on the streets and finding restaurants with vegetaria and super tasty  food and well made as the Cornucopia or Blazing Salads, go walking along the busy Grafton Street, to enter the St. Stephen's Green and dazzle us with the amount of people as ourselves that came to the garden to rest in the middle of the day and let the sun, which shines surprisingly in fully clear sky, light the discovery skin of the  "layers". For those who still have energy can visit the National Gallery and the National Museum, as well as the famous Natural History Museum, pass through the area of  Merrior Square, and from there go finish the walk along the Canal.
With the requirement to practice the next day, it is necessary to make decisions to explore the city by arranging where to go. Outside the center there is a whole universe of Nature to discover, like going to Howth, do the walks, there are 4 and you can choose the level of difficulty and duration, it will contain special view sigh  and moments of reflection. In return i  advise you to lunch at THE HOUSE, the mushroom soup and the salmon sandwich on brown bread are amazing, for total vegetarians there are choice of salads and other dishes, all it seemed fresh and tasty. Another point that is emphasized by beauty and energy is Killiney, where I had the privilege of getting to live, and every day, when i returned from classes or my walks, and the train passed the Dalkey station to Killiney, i always stood to lose myself with sea immensity and the bay with  of valleys and mountains of WICKLON. If Niamh had not spoken that the place where she took me on Saturday afternoon was her secret, I would be happy to explain exactly how to go there, but I can only write that we caught a boat and 5m i was in paradise, one island with seals, rabbits and bird species that had never seen. This green Island was amazing, it look like i was taking steps through her ancestors since the time of the Vikings! But in the midst of all this, there was always day of practice, and on top, day of practice with PETER SANSON in BLACKROCK in the school of David and Paula. When I reached the mat, I recognized faces that have seen here at our home, friends of Mysore and also Irish practitioners who came to practice with Peter here in Ashtanga Cascais, they received  me with welcome smiles and i started my first day of practice in the presence of Peter, who during the lesson reminds us of the inner intention, the power of breathing, the importance of not force the body, the amount of stupid things we think we need to do, when we do not really need anything more than to extend the matt and start with the Surya Namaskar. Constantly reminds the role of dristhis as energy instrument to conduct energy where we look. On the second day, the room was again intense,  heat, the walls dripped water, from the result of the practitioners of the previous shifts, I noticed that I was more tired, the day before i  walked through the Center city and my legs resented the  done kms. The third day of practice was done in the morning after a late night  dinner with my Irish friends, and also i made the walk and visit to Howth, the body was visibly tired but using the tips of Peter, and after a few moves and postures, it looked like it had taken a tablet of pure energy. The fourth day was practiced with Peter's words in my  heart, because the day before we had conference, and in his relaxed, calm and  humor, he has been warning for some care. He gave an example of a practitioner who he met in one of his workshops. He said he was guiding this person by the vinyasas of Surya Namaskar A, and when it was time to say, "Expires and hands on the ground," the man made the move and let out a yell, Peter asked him what had happened, and he replied, and sorry, listenning to Peter telling this has a lot more fun, but he said, "THERE IS SOMETHING BACK THERE!" to which Peter replied, "Yeah, there is, is your hamstring! " We laughed, I laughed a lot, until Peter says, "So good, you think this is a joke,  because it's funny, but it is immensely sad! The level of disconnection we have with our bodies! We walked, all of us (and he looked for everyone in the room) disintegrated with ourselves! " He discussed how we all have patterns, one hip is higher up than the other, an arm stretching and the other slightly bending, pain at the cervical, or lumbar spine, others suffer from pain in the knees or have the back the legs so stiff like cement, and that the practice will involve careful work that is born by the breath to clean our body, so we can bring energy to the blocked areas of our bodies to begin to be a change in patterns. He gave his example, that when he began practicing Ashtanga, and that when Guruji asked him to sit cross-legged on the floor, that his knees came almost up to his shoulders, such was the lack of flexibility in the hips, legs, etc. . He practiced with Guruji for years, followed his directions and advice, and gradually his body has changed, as well as the mind. He told us that doesn´t matter who has the best practice clothes, or the prettiest, who makes the most advanced position, neither  the external appearance of the positions that we do, it does not matter whether we are beautiful or not within the postures, but we focus in the breath, concentration and the right intention for an energetic work of cleaning, physical, mental and emotional detoxification. It was the perfect combination, Dublin, Ashtanga Yoga and Peter Sanson!
Happy practicing!

# "EVERYTHING IS IN PRIMARY SERIES!"

Everything is in Primary Series!", e foi ajudar outra pessoa, "desdramatizando" a situação. Everything is in PRIMARY SERIES! Boas práticas!

EN
Last week was running down the street to go open the school, when my pants held up one of my tennis and I in a few moments  got  to know the hardness of the known portuguese cobblestone! The fall was so ostentatiously, that I found myself looking at Biga, who came back looking for me, not believing  what had happened! I stood up slowly, every little step was followed by a sense and spoken, "Ui". The pains were mixed with the notion that there was blood running down my leg beneath an ugly wound on one knee and a cut in one hand, and the fear of having to be stitch up or have hurt internally my knees, forced me the effort to walk up the street to the fire department. I had the good news that the wound wasn´t going to be sutured, and apparently  the pains were caused by the strong impact against the ground. They asked me what I was going to do, to be running in the morning, I said I was late to open the school and teach a Yoga class. One of the fireman laughed and told me, "Yeah, but now you can´t teach! You have to be quiet, we took to the hospital to be stitch up smaller cuts than yours!". We do not really know very well what will happen in the next moment, and when something comes thundering in our daily lives, we tend to do the mental exercise "What If". "And what if ... I had not run that rainy morning", "What if ... I had not worn those baggy pants", "What if ... I had not been lazy, after the Shala birthday party and had  practice before the students ",   "What if ... "a few more thoughts, which may or may not have prevented that something happened.

I ended up not teach that morning, nor practice. I only returned to extend my mat, after two days, to  start, slowly, the postures of the First Series. Only after another two more days is that I could recover all the First Series, without making passages that imply putting my knees on the floor. Until i reached the days that i came to Dublin to study with Peter Sanson, yesterday was my second day of practice, and when he finished adjusting me in one posture , I took the opportunity to tell him about my knees, the cut  and  the sensitivity in the other, at the end I said, "I can only do First Series, and some postures of Second until Dhanurasana, because Ustrasana is already impossible!" to which he replied, "Good! Everything is in Primary Series", and went to help another person,  taking away any drama in all that situation. And I continued to practice with a smile on my face, because once again Peter reminded me that doesn´t  matter what positions i do, not all of the "What If" that pass through my head, really matters is that thanks to Yoga, i did not hurt seriously from that movements of my legs at the time of the fall, and in two days i was on top of the mat, where i still have  the wonderful blessing of being, and this time, in the presence of a teacher who is always a reference to my practice and how to teach. He works with each practitioner, communicates and explains the essence of Ashtanga Yoga, adjusting and teaching the postures by asking for total surrender in our breath, for the body to be able to release, and find lightness and freedom in the movements. He is constantly asking focus on breathing to remove tension from our body and reminds us to be humble, to take seriously our Yoga, to be  aware on the mat and enjoy of the wonderful opportunity to have yoga in our lives . It seems to me,  above all, he try to show  us, to take advantage of the wonderful opportunity to live our lives in peace with ourselves. Everything is in PRIMARY SERIES! Happy Practicing!

#Who runs for pleasure, do not get tired!

Eu ouvi aquilo, e ri-me.

EN
"Verinha, only after talking a bit with Michelle,  I had an idea of your life! Girl, you have no life!" I heard that, and i laughed.  It is not the first, nor the second, nor the tenth or twentieth time that some of our friends do this kind of comments, most often happens like this - we're having a conversation completely different, until someone who knows my routine, touches the subject, as if it is something completely "not normal"! This time it was Sunday and we were in one of our friends house,  when they finished telling surfed travel stories, which inevitably made us laugh a lot, because those three have perfect chapters of dream waves descriptions, and moments lived in distant countries of trips made between more than two decades friends,  in which much of the narrative is in comedy genre. And at the end of the conversation, when we had already dropped high laughters,  one of our friends who is a student from our home, started this theme, which to me is no longer a novelty, but at the same time is always weird because everyone stop the parallel conversations and all look at me like I am an alien, not to write other thing, like i m "the little crazy" who wakes up at 4 am,  from Monday to Friday to practice Yoga! When the subject comes up, they always ask what time I'm going to sleep; if I have dinner; if I do naps during the day; why I do not practice the Ashtanga  other time of the day; etc. And I laugh with them, as i try to  answer the best I can to show that being an Ashtanga Yoga practitioner is not an option of crazy people. Usually the conversation jumps from me to Jo, because they look to him,  not understanding how to live with someone who wakes up so early, which has a structured routine for the sake of practice and teaching. I stay silent watching the questions to him and his replies, that like me, laugh with the range of questions and with the air of confusion of our closest friends.

There's that old maxim that says "who runs for pleasure, do not get tired ?!", this maxim sums up my option, which is also the  option  of dozen and hundreds of Ashtanga Yoga practitioners throughout this world who like me, practice before our work. Who runs for pleasure, do not get tired, we need organization, and perseverance and have the luck and  joy of family and friends at our side who understand and help so we can continue six days a week to do what we love, practicing Ashtanga!

Who runs for pleasure do not get tired!
Happy practicing!

9 years sunset birthday party#

The day began and ended with them, with the people who are part of our practice house. There were classes in the morning and party at the end of the day, for our 9th anniversary. It was with great joy that we received the ones that  just passed here to leave a kiss, a smile and a quick congratulations! Like all who have come for longer time and while their kids were running from one side to the other in full play, we could see and listened them sharing stories and lots of laughs.

Thank you for  all the emails and phone calls of congratulations, and all who came to the party. That we have a special year and that the Ashtanga Cascais can continue to create more conditions and classes so that more people can benefit from this strong, intense and enriching Yoga practice.
